Senior Citizen Scammed of Rs 46 Lakh in Equity Investment Fraud
A 65-year-old retired man from Thane city lost Rs 46 lakh after being lured by fraudsters promising handsome returns on equity investments. The perpetrators, claiming to be from a reputed financial firm, convinced him to invest the money but became unreachable eventually. A police complaint has been filed.

A 65-year-old retired man from Thane city has reportedly lost Rs 46 lakh in an alleged equity investment scam, according to officials on Thursday. The complainant, residing in Charai, claimed he was deceived between June 14 and July 1 by individuals posing as employees from a reputed financial securities firm.
These fraudsters convinced the man to invest Rs 46 lakh with promises of lucrative returns, but became unreachable when he sought the returns on his invested money. The station house officer of Naupada police station confirmed the incident.
Upon realizing he had been duped, the retired man filed a complaint, leading to a police case being registered on Tuesday. Four individuals, identified through their mobile numbers, are being investigated under section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act for cheating.
