The mutilated body of journalist Madhusmita Parida was discovered on railway tracks in Bhubaneswar, police reported on Thursday. Her husband, Sridhar Jena, facing multiple allegations of extramarital affairs, has been arrested for abetment to suicide, confirmed DCP Prateek Singh.
Parida, employed by a web channel, was found dead late Wednesday night in the Bapuji Nagar area. Initial investigations revealed strained relations between Parida and her husband, an Air Force employee, after she uncovered his alleged affairs, according to Singh.
Jena had previously threatened divorce, and Parida had complained to the police just days before her death. Both had later stated that their relationship was 'normal.' CCTV and mobile phone data are being analyzed as part of ongoing investigations.
