Shalini Singh Appointed as Puducherry's DGP

Shalini Singh, a 1996 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry. The Union Home Ministry confirmed her transfer from Delhi police, effective August 1. Singh, from the AGMUT cadre, succeeds B Srinivas. She is the second woman to hold the position.

Shalini Singh, an IPS officer from the 1996 batch, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Puducherry, according to a statement from the Union Home Ministry on Thursday.

Singh is part of the AGMUT cadre and her transfer from the Delhi police to Puducherry will take effect on August 1, the Ministry elaborated in its order. She will replace B Srinivas, who is set to retire on July 31, as per police sources.

This appointment makes Singh the second woman IPS officer to assume the role of DGP in Puducherry. Previously, Sundari Nanda occupied this position in 2018.
