Guru Waghmare, a history-sheeter and self-proclaimed RTI activist, was murdered at Soft Touch Spa in Mumbai's Worli, police revealed on Thursday. The victim had tattooed the names of 22 potential threats on his body, leading authorities to arrest multiple suspects, including spa owner Santosh Sherekar.
Santosh Sherekar, tired of Waghmare's extortion threats, allegedly paid Mohammed Feroze Ansari Rs 6 lakh to execute the murder. The plot was set after Ansari's own spa business in Nallasopara was closed following Waghmare's complaint. Ansari then enlisted the help of Saquib Ansari from Delhi to carry out the crime.
The murder was meticulously planned over three months, with the assailants tailing Waghmare extensively. They finally killed him using separated scissor blades at Sherekar's spa. Police investigations linked the suspects through UPI transactions and phone records, leading to their arrests.
