Indian student Upendra Aduru has been sentenced to 12 years in jail by a US federal court for attempting to entice a minor into illegal sexual activity. Aduru, who communicated with an undercover detective posing as a minor, was arrested after trying to meet the supposed teenager.

Indian national Upendra Aduru, 32, has been handed a 12-year prison sentence in a US federal court for attempting to entice a minor into illegal sexual activity, as announced by a US Attorney on Thursday.
Between September 20 and October 6, 2022, Aduru, in the United States on a student visa, communicated via social media with a detective who was posing as a thirteen-year-old girl.
During these interactions, Aduru expressed a desire to engage in sexual activity with the supposed minor and even sent the detective explicit adult content. He sought to meet with the girl and traveled to a park in Millcreek Township, where he was arrested. A search of his phone revealed incriminating social media communications.
