The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a program to train local youths for recruitment under the Agnipath scheme, said Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Additionally, retired Agniveers will receive preference during recruitment for the state's police, emergency, and fire services.

Khandu highlighted that this transformative initiative would offer the youngsters of Arunachal Pradesh an opportunity to serve the country.

The Agnipath scheme, introduced by the Centre in 2022, recruits youths aged 17-and-a-half to 21 for the Army, Navy, and Air Force on a four-year contractual basis. Agniveers, serving four years, may have 25% of each batch offered regular service. Similar preferences for ex-Agniveers in recruitment have also been announced by several other state governments and the Central Armed Police Forces.
