Over 15 people, including six police personnel, were injured in a clash between law enforcers and tribal students in Jharkhand's Pakur district, the police reported on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday night when police arrived at KKM College's campus to investigate an abduction case. Students from a tribal hostel protested the police entry, leading to a confrontation, according to officials.
The state BJP accused the police of brutalizing students planning to protest Bangladeshi infiltration. Students claimed ten hostel mates were hospitalized due to police actions, saying officers forcefully entered the campus. The Pakur Superintendent of Police asserted the incident was unrelated to the scheduled rally and followed protocol after receiving an abduction report. Despite these claims, opposition leaders criticized the government for excessive force and demanded accountability.
