Fast-Track Justice for Shilphata Gangrape and Murder Case

The Shilphata gangrape and murder trial will be expedited through a fast-track court with renowned lawyer Ujjwal Nikam as special prosecutor. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed police to file a charge sheet promptly. Victim's body was recovered on July 9 after being raped and murdered by three temple attendants.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered the expedited trial of the Shilphata gangrape and murder case through a fast-track court. Renowned lawyer Ujjwal Nikam will serve as the special prosecutor, ensuring the case is handled with utmost seriousness and urgency.

Shinde has directed the Thane police commissioner and the principal secretary of the home department to file a charge sheet in court at the earliest. Three temple attendants have been arrested in connection with the brutal crime.

The incident unfolded when the victim, following a dispute with her in-laws, sought refuge in a hilltop temple. She was allegedly raped and murdered by the trio, and her body was subsequently dumped in a valley and recovered on July 9.
