Massive Seizure: 63 Lakh Foreign Cigarettes Intercepted by Special Branch
The Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch seized over 63 lakh foreign brand cigarettes worth Rs 6.5 crore from a container at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. The contraband was smuggled by mis-declaring it as PP Sports Flooring material. One mastermind has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.

In a significant breakthrough, the Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch has seized more than 63 lakh sticks of foreign brand cigarettes at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. The seized goods have an estimated market value of Rs 6.5 crore.
The cigarettes were discovered in a container that was intercepted and examined by the officials at the Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House located in the Nhava Sheva area of Raigad district. The consignment had been mis-declared as 'PP Sports Flooring' in import documents to evade customs.
One of the masterminds behind the smuggling operation has been arrested. Further investigations are currently underway to track down other culprits involved in this illegal scheme.
