Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday welcomed the appointment of Lakshman Prasad Acharya as the new governor, emphasizing that the state will benefit from his organizational and legislative experiences. Sarma expressed gratitude to outgoing governor Gulab Chand Kataria for his service and congratulated former Assam MP Ramen Deka on his new role as governor of Chhattisgarh.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced that Acharya will take on the role of governor of Assam and Manipur, while Kataria will replace Banwarilal Purohit as the governor of Punjab and also serve as the administrator of Chandigarh. Sarma praised Acharya's commitment to empowering the poor and his extensive experience.

Sarma shared his appreciation for Kataria's dedication during his tenure and wished him success in his new position in Punjab. The Chief Minister also congratulated Deka, highlighting his diverse experience in public service. These appointments will take effect once the new appointees assume charge of their respective offices.
