A Public Works Department official was apprehended for allegedly taking a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a contractor in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district, according to police reports.
The Special Police Establishment (SPE) organized a sting operation and caught R C Tirole, the superintendent engineer, accepting the bribe. The complainant, a contractor, alleged Tirole demanded Rs 20 lakh to extend the deadline for road projects in Betul district's Multai and Bhainsdehi areas.
Further legal proceedings are underway, with the complaint highlighting that Tirole purposefully delayed project approval to solicit the bribe.
