Officials from the Pune police and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have detained four Rohingya individuals, among them two women, for allegedly residing illegally in India, according to a Sunday report.

The four individuals have been staying in India for the past 8-10 years without valid documents, as confirmed by official sources. They were taken into custody on Saturday by the Chinchwad police and ATS.

Identified as Shahid Shaikh, Mujammil Mohammad Amin Khan, Sajida Kasim Shaikh, and Shafika Mujammil Amin Khan, these detainees reportedly entered India illegally between 2012 and 2015. Authorities have recovered documents indicating their Myanmar citizenship, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress. Charges under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act have been filed at the Dehu Road police station.
