Associate Finance Minister Shane Jones will lead New Zealand's delegation at the Pacific Island Forum Economic Ministers Meeting in Suva, Fiji this week.

Mr. Jones highlighted the significance of the meeting, stating, “Ministers from across the Pacific will come together to address key economic and socio-economic challenges facing the region. New Zealand’s participation underscores our commitment to the Pacific, our support for our regional partners, and the vital role of the Pacific Islands Forum.”

The agenda will include discussions on several critical issues such as the Pacific Roadmap for Economic Development, correspondent banking relationships, and the establishment of the Pacific Resilience Facility. The meeting aims to foster stronger regional cooperation and address pressing environmental, health, and geopolitical concerns.

In addition to dialogue with fellow forum members, including Australia, Mr. Jones will focus on enhancing economic collaboration and reinforcing New Zealand’s support for the Pacific Islands Forum’s initiatives.

Mr. Jones will depart for Suva tomorrow and is scheduled to return on 3 August.
