EU Seeks Diplomatic Upgrade with Vietnam

Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief, announced plans to enhance diplomatic relations with Vietnam, focusing on maritime security and cybersecurity. After meeting Vietnam's Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Borrell expressed a desire to initiate this upgraded partnership during his visit to Hanoi.

Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief, announced on Tuesday his intention to elevate diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

Borrell stated that the EU could assist Vietnam in improving its maritime security and cybersecurity capabilities. This announcement came after his meeting with Vietnam's Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi.

"I would like my visit to be the moment to launch the process to upgrade our relations," Borrell remarked.
