A beheaded body of a six-year-old girl was discovered near Pitambarpur Railway Station, police confirmed on Tuesday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, South, Manush Pareekh stated that the incident does not appear to involve murder. Preliminary investigations suggest the girl was either struck by a train or attacked by a wild animal, which might have dragged the body and caused the head to separate.

ASP Pareekh mentioned that the body, estimated to be seven to eight days old, has not yet been identified. The exact cause of death will be determined by a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, police are exploring all possible angles in the ongoing probe.
