In a passionate appeal during the Lok Sabha session on Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi highlighted the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, which claimed over 70 lives. He called on the Centre to extend robust support for ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
Gandhi requested increased compensation for the families of the deceased and the urgent restoration of vital transport and communication infrastructure. His speech drew the attention of the House during Zero Hour.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju assured that the Prime Minister was coordinating with Kerala's Chief Minister and relief operations were actively underway. Rijiju vowed to update the House as more information becomes available.
