Speaking at the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) conference in Taipei, Lai emphasized Taiwan's dedication to self-reliant defense and foreign arms purchases to ensure regional peace and stability.

Addressing lawmakers from 24 countries, including Australia, Britain, Japan, and Germany, Lai expressed Taiwan's commitment to partnership with democratic nations to counter authoritarian threats. IPAC, a global network of politicians, advocates for democratic values and a rules-based international order.

Facing prolonged military pressure from China, which views Taiwan as its territory, Lai highlighted Taiwan's ongoing efforts to modernize its armed forces with assistance from allies such as the United States.
