Bail Decision Reserved for SUV Driver in Fatal Flooding Incident

A court has reserved its order on a bail plea for Manuj Kathuria, the driver of an SUV involved in flooding a coaching centre's basement in Old Rajinder Nagar, leading to the death of three aspirants. The prosecution opposed the bail, citing safety concerns and Kathuria's reckless behavior.

A court in the Old Rajinder Nagar area has reserved its ruling on the bail plea of Manuj Kathuria, an SUV driver accused of causing a tragic flood that led to the deaths of three civil services aspirants.

Judicial Magistrate Vinod Kumar reserved his decision after hearing arguments from both sides. Kathuria is accused of driving his Force Gurkha through a rain-flooded street, exacerbating the flooding and causing it to breach the gates of a coaching centre's three-story building.

Kathuria's counsel argued for his bail, stating that his client had neither knowledge nor intention to cause the incident. However, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava opposed the bail plea, alleging that Kathuria's reckless behavior aggravated the situation. Srivastava presented videos from Kathuria's social media to support his claims and argued that the accused might influence witnesses if released on bail.
