Elite Army Dogs Deployed to Wayanad for Rescue Operations

Elite Army dogs, including Belgian Malinois, Labradors, and German Shepherds, trained at Meerut’s Remount Veterinary Corps Centre, are being sent to Meppadi, Wayanad. Responding to a special request from Kerala's Chief Minister, these expert canines will assist in rescuing victims and recovering human remains at landslide sites.

Elite Army dogs from breeds like Belgian Malinois, Labradors, and German Shepherds, trained at Meerut’s renowned Remount Veterinary Corps Centre, are on their way to Meppadi in Wayanad, where landslides have claimed several lives.

This deployment, requested by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, aims to locate survivors and recover human remains from the disaster-stricken area. The canine unit's proficiency in sniffing out signs of life buried under mud will prove crucial in rescue operations.

A Defence Ministry PRO confirmed the dispatch, noting these dogs' expertise in disaster relief. These specialized canines have previously assisted in similar missions in Kerala, providing critical support in anti-terrorism, narcotics detection, and emergency rescue operations.
