Former Pakistan Army Officer Sentenced to 14 Years for Sedition
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain of the Pakistan Army was sentenced to 14 years in prison for sedition. Convicted by the Field General Court Martial under the Pakistan Army Act 1952, Hussain was found guilty of inciting sedition among army personnel. His rank was forfeited on July 26.
The Pakistan Army announced on Tuesday that a retired officer has been sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment on charges of sedition.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain was convicted and sentenced by the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under the Pakistan Army Act 1952. The court found him guilty of inciting sedition among army personnel, according to an official statement.
The court of competent jurisdiction adjudicated him guilty of the charged offense, following due judicial process, and sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment on May 10, the statement elaborated. His rank was officially forfeited on July 26.
