Puducherry's 15th Assembly Kicks Off with New Lt Governor

The fifth session of Puducherry's 15th Assembly starts with Lieutenant Governor C P Radhakrishnan delivering the customary address. Deliberations on the motion of thanks and the Union Territory's budget presentation by Chief Minister N Rangasamy are scheduled. Former IAS officer K Kailashnathan will soon take over as the new Lt Governor.

The fifth sitting of the 15th Puducherry Assembly is set to commence on Wednesday, led by an address from Lieutenant Governor C P Radhakrishnan at 9.30 am.

The session will feature discussions on a motion of thanks for the address on August 1, with Chief Minister N Rangasamy presenting the Union Territory's budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year on August 2.

The assembly comprises 30 elected members and three nominated legislators. Jharkhand Governor Radhakrishnan has been serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry under additional charge since March and will transfer his duties to his successor, former IAS officer K Kailashnathan, shortly.

Governor Radhakrishnan will officially open the budget session before departing for Maharashtra by tomorrow evening or later, as his new assignment awaits.
