Historic Transfer: Railway Board's First Female CEO Joins Central Administrative Tribunal

This move, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, marks a significant step as Sinha became the first woman to hold the top Railway Board position last year.

Railway Board Chairperson and CEO Jaya Varma Sinha has been transferred to the Central Administrative Tribunal as an administrative member, along with 11 other senior officials from various government departments.
A government order dated July 29, 2024, confirmed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned the Department of Personnel and Training's proposal for these appointments to the Tribunal.
Sinha assumed her role as Chairperson and CEO of the Railway Board on September 1 last year, making history as the first woman to attain the top position. She previously served as a Member (Operations and Business Development) of the Board, managing the transportation of freight and passenger services on Indian Railways.
The order also appointed four judicial members to the CAT, notably including Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill, former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court; Justice Padmaraj Nemachandra Desai, former judge of the Karnataka High Court; Rajveer Singh Verma, Additional Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs; and Veena Kothavale, Additional Secretary of the Legislative Department.
