The Supreme Court made significant rulings on Tuesday, July 30. It declared state bar councils cannot charge exorbitant fees for enrolling law graduates, highlighting systemic discrimination against marginalized communities.
In a series of bail decisions, the SC granted bail to ex-Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on medical grounds and to TMC leader Anubrata Mondal in a cattle smuggling case. Conversely, it dismissed previous Ranchi deputy commissioner Chhavi Ranjan's plea related to the sale of Army land.
The court reprimanded the Centre for prolonged delays on the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme for retired Army captains, imposing a Rs 2 lakh fine. Additionally, the SC addressed other matters including misleading advertisements and set a date for hearing the Uddhav Thackeray faction’s plea regarding political factions in Maharashtra.
