Jaya Varma Sinha, the Chairperson and CEO of the Railway Board, is set to begin a new role as an administrative member of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) after her retirement on August 31. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment, along with 11 others, following a proposal from the Department of Personnel and Training.
Sinha's distinguished career with Indian Railways saw her become the first woman to lead the Railway Board, a position she assumed on September 1 last year. Prior to that, Sinha played a crucial role as a Member (Operations and Business Development), overseeing freight and passenger services.
The government order also announced the appointment of four judicial members to CAT, including Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill and Justice Padmaraj Nemachandra Desai, along with Rajveer Singh Verma and Veena Kothavale.
