K Kailashnathan Appointed as Full-fledged Lt Governor of Puducherry

Retired IAS officer K Kailashnathan is set to be sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on August 7. The ceremony will take place at the official residence, Raj Nivas, at 12:10 PM, according to Speaker of the territorial Assembly R Selvam.
Kailashnathan’s appointment marks the 25th Lieutenant Governor for the Union Territory, ending a period of temporary appointments that began in 2021 after Kiran Bedi departed from the position. Recently, the Governor of Jharkhand, C P Radhakrishnan, had held the post under additional charge.
Kailashnathan, a former IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre, is a close confidante of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He served as a senior official in the Gujarat government during Modi's tenure as Chief Minister.
