CBI Arrests NBCC DGM for Allegedly Taking Bribe in Leh Project
The CBI has arrested Varun Popli, deputy general manager of NBCC, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a contractor for a project in Leh. Popli had initially demanded Rs 11.40 lakh but agreed to a partial payment. He was apprehended in Delhi and will be produced in court.

In a significant crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended Varun Popli, a deputy general manager of the NBCC, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs five lakh from a construction contractor in connection with a project in Leh.
Popli, stationed in Ladakh, had purportedly demanded Rs 11.40 lakh from the contractor. However, during negotiations, he agreed to receive a partial payment of Rs 5 lakh in Delhi, where he particularly traveled to for this transaction.
According to a CBI spokesperson, Popli was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe on Wednesday evening. He has been detained and will be brought before a competent court in Delhi. Concurrently, a search of his residential premises in Delhi was also conducted.
