Sri Lankan Navy Incident: Tamil Nadu Fisherman Dead, Another Missing

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged the Centre to take prompt diplomatic action for the repatriation of the fishermen and to ensure adequate care for the injured.

A tragic collision at sea between a Sri Lankan Navy ship and a Tamil Nadu fishing boat led to the death of one fisherman and another going missing, according to senior officials in the region. The incident occurred when the Navy attempted to arrest the fishermen for illegal fishing.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has taken up the issue with the Centre, requesting urgent diplomatic intervention to ensure consular access, medical care, and quick repatriation of the injured fishermen.
Stalin has also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the deceased fisherman, Malaisamy, and has highlighted the ongoing issue of Tamil fishermen being arrested by Sri Lankan authorities.
