The exchange facilitated the release of U.S. Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former Marine Paul Whelan among 26 prisoners from the U.S., Russia, and their allies, according to a statement from Turkey’s presidency.

When asked about Germany’s role and the confirmation of the release, Baerbock emphasized that the Federal Government would address the issue in due course.
