Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev issued a stern warning on Thursday regarding traitors involved in prisoner exchanges with the West. Medvedev stated that traitors should rot and die in prison but highlighted that bringing Russian citizens home was a higher priority for Moscow.

Medvedev made his uncompromising remarks in a post on his Telegram channel. He asserted, 'And let the traitors now feverishly pick up new names and actively disguise themselves under witness protection programmes.'

The comments come in the wake of a recent prisoner exchange, reflecting the former president's rigid stance on how traitors should be dealt with by the state.
