Arunachal Pradesh Partners with IIM Shillong to Boost Panchayat Leadership
Arunachal Pradesh has signed an MoU with IIM Shillong aiming to enhance the leadership and managerial skills of panchayat functionaries. Arunachal Pradesh has inked a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong to bolster the leadership and managerial proficiency of panchayat functionaries across the state.
The agreement, signed on Thursday by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) and IIM Shillong, was disclosed in an official statement released on Friday. SIRD&PR was represented by panchayati raj secretary Sonal Swaroop and director Habung Lampung, while IIM Shillong's signatories included director D P Goyal and Sanjeev Kumar Ningombam, head of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis.
This initiative aims to provide community leaders and local body members with vital tools and knowledge to enhance their capabilities, ensuring panchayats function effectively as the third tier of government. The program encompasses specialized modules and teaching methodologies designed to foster leadership and managerial skills, aligning with the revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the development, expressing his satisfaction: ''Happy to learn that SIRD Arunachal Pradesh has signed an MoU with IIM Shillong to enhance leadership and management capacities at the grassroots level.''
