According to the officials, five people were partying on the river's banks in Shahapur when the tragedy struck. Three of the car's occupants managed to save themselves.

However, two others were swept away. Fishermen and a rescue team later recovered the body of Ganpat Chimaji Shelkande, a resident of Kalyan, while the search continues for the missing person.
