A 72-year-old retired MTNL mechanic was allegedly stabbed to death by his son following a property dispute at his residence in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area, authorities confirmed on Saturday morning.
Mahesh Thakur, the younger son, expressed anger over his father's intention to sell their home, reportedly planned in collusion with his elder brother, keeping Mahesh in the dark. Mahesh claimed his father had previously helped the elder brother buy property, leaving him feeling deprived.
Police disclosed that Mahesh executed the murder while the family was asleep. He later confessed, and the crime weapon was recovered from a water tank on a nearby roof. Investigations revealed inconsistencies in Mahesh's initial story, including a fabrication about seeing two men leaving the scene.
