Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that his government will soon introduce a stringent law for life imprisonment in cases of ‘love jihad.’
Speaking at the state BJP executive meet, Sarma highlighted that this policy had been a part of their election promises and assured swift action. In addition, he revealed plans for a new domicile policy, ensuring that only those born in Assam would qualify for state government employment. He emphasized that indigenous communities have been given priority in the allocation of 'one lakh government jobs,' which will be evident when the complete list is published.
The Chief Minister also discussed new regulations for land transactions between Hindus and Muslims, mandating that such sales require his prior consent, though acknowledging that the government cannot outright prevent these transactions.
