Massive Illegal LPG Cylinder Seizure in Thane District

Authorities in Maharashtra's Thane district conducted a raid and seized 341 LPG cylinders, valued at Rs 7.86 lakh, stored for illegal sale. The operation revealed the godown owner and two employees broke laws by operating without permits and refilling cylinders for the black market. The police registered an FIR under various legal provisions.

In a significant crackdown, authorities in Maharashtra's Thane district raided a godown, seizing 341 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders valued at Rs 7.86 lakh. These cylinders were illegally stored for sale, police confirmed on Monday.

A joint operation by district public distribution system officials and Shivaji Nagar police unveiled that the godown owner and his two employees were operating without necessary permits. They were found refilling non-subsidised gas cylinders for black market sale in Ambernath's Anand Nagar industrial area, officials stated.

Additional seizures included a tempo and gas refilling equipment. An FIR has been filed against the involved parties under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Essential Commodities Act, and the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, authorities added.
