Investigation Underway: Complaints Rock Auroville's Ideal Township

The Centre has received a slew of complaints concerning illegal activities in Auroville, including land encroachment, drug abuse, and cyber crimes, the Ministry of Education announced on Monday. These allegations have been forwarded to appropriate agencies for further investigation, it confirmed.
The Union Minister of State for Education, Sukanta Majumdar, relayed this information in a written response to a Lok Sabha query. The Auroville Foundation's website describes Auroville as a township committed to a unique 'experiment in human unity.'
Allegations encompass a broad range of offences, including violations of immigration laws, circulation of black money, and money laundering, Majumdar elaborated. Cyber crime-related complaints have been sent to competent agencies, while representations about land exchanges are under the Auroville Foundation's scrutiny.
