Ghaziabad Police have apprehended a 21-year-old man, accused of raping a teenage relative who later became pregnant and suffered a miscarriage. Officials stated that the incident came to light last month through a private hospital in the Sahibabad area.
The police took the initiative after learning about the hospitalization of the girl, who is a distant cousin of the accused. The suspect, who attended a wedding event with the victim's family four months ago, allegedly established physical relations, resulting in her pregnancy.
ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay of Sahibabad confirmed that the teenage girl gave birth to a stillborn child on July 11. Despite initial reluctance from the victim's family to provide information, the police identified the accused using electronic surveillance. He was arrested on Sunday and has since been jailed, with charges filed under Section 64 (rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant POCSO Act provisions.
