A BJP MP on Tuesday voiced serious concerns over the rising cases of dog bites, urging the formation of a committee to tackle this pressing issue. The MP highlighted that the current environment is preventing children from playing freely due to fear.

During Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg revealed alarming statistics: 30.5 lakh people have been bitten by dogs in India, resulting in 286 fatalities. ''In Ghaziabad alone, 35,000 people have been bitten in a year,'' he added.

Garg stressed that neglected stray dog attacks are exacerbating the situation, while existing laws fail to balance animal protection with human safety. He called for prompt action to form a committee and address the imbalance, prioritizing humanity above all.
