Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has called for the swift and effective implementation of the Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2024-25. This directive was issued during a review meeting on the ELI Scheme's rollout, attended by Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, and senior officials from the Ministry and the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the need for a strong mechanism to ensure that the ELI Scheme benefits reach its intended recipients. “Our focus must be on developing a sustainable and inclusive employment ecosystem. The ELI Scheme is pivotal in driving job creation by providing incentives to both employers and employees,” he emphasized.

The ELI Scheme aims to generate over 2 crore jobs within a two-year timeframe, significantly boosting employment opportunities and improving livelihoods across the country. Dr. Mandaviya instructed officials to launch an extensive outreach and awareness campaign to inform potential beneficiaries about the scheme's advantages.

The Union Budget 2024-25 introduced three specific schemes under the ELI initiative, part of a broader Prime Minister’s package of five schemes designed to support employment, skilling, and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over five years, with a central outlay of Rs. 2 lakh crore.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is finalizing the details and implementation plan for these schemes to ensure effective deployment and impact.
