Delhi Police Reinforces Security with New SOPs and Duty Cards Post Lok Sabha Breach
Following a significant security breach in the Lok Sabha chamber, Delhi Police has issued special 'duty cards' and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure robust security around the Parliament complex. The measures come after last year’s incident where two individuals released gas and shouted slogans during a session.

In response to a major security breach inside the Lok Sabha chamber, Delhi Police has introduced special 'duty cards' for personnel deployed around Parliament. This move aims to bolster the security framework and avoid future breaches.
Last year, on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two intruders managed to disrupt proceedings by releasing gas from canisters and shouting slogans. Two others carried out a similar act outside the Parliament premises.
The newly issued duty cards, accompanied by detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), outline specific roles for personnel and define actions to counter various security threats. This is the first time such cards have been introduced in Delhi, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla.
