Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday announced a relief package of Rs 10 lakh for the family of a fisherman who went missing after a mid-sea collision between his boat and a Sri Lankan Navy ship last week.

In a statement, Stalin mentioned that the Coast Guard had been conducting a search operation for the missing fisherman, identified as Ramachandran, over the past five days without success.

Recognizing the dire situation faced by the fisherman's family, Stalin allocated Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. He also noted that one fisherman had drowned in the incident, and two others had been detained by Sri Lankan authorities before being handed over to Indian authorities on August 3 along with the mortal remains of the deceased.
