Ukraine's foreign ministry expressed regret on Thursday over Niger's decision to cut diplomatic ties, labeling the move as founded on baseless and untrue accusations.

Niger's junta announced its decision on Tuesday, citing solidarity with Mali. Mali had earlier severed ties with Kyiv, alleging that a Ukrainian military intelligence official made remarks indicating Kyiv's support for rebels in northern Mali.

Ukraine refutes these allegations and regrets the deterioration of diplomatic relations with Niger.
