Government employees who secure their positions using false information or fake certificates face termination, as per existing guidelines, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed that frequent complaints are received concerning employment based on fake caste certificates, which are forwarded to relevant ministries for action. This information gains importance after UPSC's recent cancellation of Puja Khedkar's candidature for fraudulent practices in civil services exams.
States and Union Territories are urged to verify caste certificates within a month of receiving a request, to uphold transparency and fairness in government appointments.
