NIA Charges Two More in Kerala Radicalisation Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charge-sheeted two more individuals in a case involving radicalising youths in Kerala to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047. This brings the total number of accused to 63, with 61 arrests made so far. The investigation continues.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has added two more individuals to its charge sheet in a case concerning the radicalisation of youths in Kerala as part of a conspiracy to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

This development takes the total number of accused to 63, with 61 out of 71 identified suspects already under arrest. The search continues for the 10 individuals still at large. One prominent accused, Abdul Naser, has passed away as of January 2, 2023.

The latest charge sheet implicates Jaffar B and Shafeekh, who were detained earlier this year. Jaffar is identified as a master arms trainer associated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) and has a history of involvement in 20 other criminal cases. Meanwhile, Shafeekh has received arms training and is accused of harboring fellow suspects. Additional charges have also been brought against Noushad, already in jail, who allegedly participated in a conspiracy meeting targeting an RSS leader.
