In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia. Sisodia had been in custody for 17 months concerning corruption and money laundering allegations tied to the Delhi excise policy scam.
A bench comprising Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan noted the protracted detention period, stating that Sisodia had been deprived of his right to a speedy trial.
AAP leaders, including MPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, expressed their elation and gratitude towards the Supreme Court, viewing this as a 'victory of truth.' The leaders also expressed hope that other incarcerated party members would soon receive justice. Delhi Education Minister Atishi echoed the sentiment with a terse yet resonant tweet, 'Satyamev Jayate.'
