Supreme Court Seeks Response in Rajiv Khosla Contempt Case

The Supreme Court has asked bar leader Rajiv Khosla to respond to a plea from former Delhi judge Sujata Kohli challenging his exoneration in a contempt case. Kohli alleges Khosla interfered with judicial proceedings. The incident dates back to 1994 when Kohli claims Khosla assaulted her.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from bar leader Rajiv Khosla on a plea by former Delhi district court judge Sujata Kohli, challenging his exoneration by the Delhi High Court in a contempt case. The case involves allegations of interference with the administration of justice by Khosla.

In February, the Delhi High Court discharged Khosla, a former president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association, from a contempt case initiated over alleged obstruction of court proceedings. The chaos in question occurred on November 30, 2021, at Delhi's Tis Hazari court, where lawyers disrupted the proceedings with slogans and protests.

Kohli, who accused Khosla of assaulting her in 1994, contended that the incident prompted the contempt case due to the disruptive actions of Khosla's supporters. The Supreme Court bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has also requested a report on the incident from the Delhi High Court's Registrar General.
