Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to embark on a pivotal two-day visit to Nepal starting Sunday, marking his inaugural international trip since assuming his top role.

Announcing the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized the importance of the foreign secretary's trip, reflecting India's strategic 'Neighbourhood First' policy. The visit is at the invitation of Nepal's Foreign Secretary, Sewa Lamsal.

The MEA highlighted the deep-rooted civilisational, cultural, and people-to-people ties between India and Nepal. Recent years have seen significant advancements in bilateral cooperation, particularly through high-level exchanges and major infrastructure projects in Nepal facilitated by the Indian government.

This visit is poised to further solidify the bilateral bonds, which are crucial given Nepal's reliance on India for goods and services transport across their shared 1,850 km border.
