The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Maharashtra’s Thane has lodged a case against Kapil Changrani for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 21 lakh from a person summoned for questioning in a drugs case, officials announced on Saturday.
Changrani is accused of acting as an intermediary for two police officers to extort the money, authorities said. The case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Sion police station, Mumbai, on Friday.
The incident traces back to a July raid by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Navi Mumbai police, which led to drug seizures and arrests. The complainant, who avoided police questioning, later reported the bribe demand to ACB, prompting an investigation that confirmed his claims.
