In a turbulent turn of events, Bangladesh's Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan and Central Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder have stepped down amidst growing student protests.
Hassan's resignation came after he was warned of 'dire consequences' by the protesting students. The controversial resignation was confirmed by a law ministry official on conditions of anonymity.
Meanwhile, Talukder's resignation has not yet been accepted due to the critical nature of his role, according to finance ministry adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.
