Tragic Dowry Death: Husband Allegedly Murders Wife in UP

A 35-year-old woman was tragically killed in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, allegedly over dowry demands, police reported on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Nargis, was reportedly murdered by her husband, Israeel, in their home in Masura village. According to the complaint by Nargis's father, Tahir, the heated altercation stemmed from Israeel’s demand for a bike as dowry.

Tahir stated that following a previous quarrel, Nargis had returned to her parents' home, but was taken back by her husband with a promise not to harass her. Nargis is survived by a six-month-old daughter. Authorities have sent her body for postmortem and are actively searching for the accused, who is currently absconding.
