School Van Driver Arrested for Sexual Assault in Jharkhand

A 30-year-old school van driver has been apprehended for allegedly raping a nursery student in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district, a senior police official reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred Friday in the Mango area of the city. Following an FIR filed by the victim's mother, the accused, Jaishree Tiwary, was captured within three hours by a special police team, according to Superintendent of Police Rishava Garg.

The SP confirmed that a medical examination of the three-and-a-half-year-old victim was conducted and the accused has since been placed in judicial custody.

The minor victim complained of stomach pain and recounted the assault upon returning home from school on Friday. After receiving this information, Senior Superintendent Kishore Kaushal formed a special police team to apprehend the suspect under the Pocso Act, stated the SP.

A female police officer was dispatched to the victim's home to collect details of the incident prior to arresting the driver. The school van has also been impounded, and authorities have committed to filing the chargesheet within a week.
